Advanced Search Options

Search Type:  You may choose to search for all the words (AND) or any the words (OR) in the Keyword(s) text box.

Search In:  You may choose to perform the search across files in all indexed directories, or only within selected directories.

Whole Words:  If checked, then the search keywords will be counted as the entire word; otherwise, the results will show all words that contain the keyword within them.

As Phrase:  If checked, all keywords in the text box will be treated as a single phrase.

You can also delimit your searches based on how you enter them.  Entering words separately (i.e. red blue black) will search for instances where those word are found in any order (the program searches for “red”, “blue”, and “black”).  If you specify quotations around your query (i.e. “red blue” black), the program will search for instances where ‘red blue’ and black are found.  You can also use commas to separate search phrases (i.e. red blue, black will search for “red blue” and “black”).

Case Sensitive:  Switch on/off case sensitivity for searches. Only visible if you have checked "Enable case sensitive" in [Keyword Setting] menu; Your database must be indexed with Keyword Case Sensitive On or you need to update the database.

Wild Cards:  You may also use standard wildcard characters, such as * and ?. The asterisk (*) will allow you to search for any combination of characters either as suffix or prefix of the keyword; The question mark (?) will allow you to search for the keyword plus a specific number of character as suffix or prefix of the keyword.

File Type:  You may search for the keyword in all indexed files ending in either htm, .txt, .rtf, and .doc or you can specify a single file type to search.  This is a useful feature to limit your search to specific file types.
